Taking the Test

 If you meet the basic requirements, you will be scheduled to take the NJATC apprenticeship test battery. The test battery consists of two (2) tests. It will take approximately two and a half hours to complete. the number of items and amount of time allotted fore each test are shown as follows:

After you take the test battery, the South Bend & Vicinity Electrical JATC will contact you informing you of the results. If you obtain a qualifying score on the test battery, you will be scheduled for an oral interview. You will be interviewed by a committee representing both the NECA and the IBEW. Based on the interview, you will receive an overall ranking. As new positions become available in the apprenticeship program, names will be taken off of the respective eligibility list in order of the ranking score. Your name will be kept on the eligibility list for two (2) years.

If you fail to receive an acceptable score on the aptitude test, you must wait six (6) months before you can retake the test battery. Please note: Willful attempts to violate this rule may result in permanent disqualification.
